With training provided by curàtors, architectural historians, restoration architects, and the Diråctor of Education for Hollyhock House, volunteers will gain an in-dåpth knowledge of Hollyhock House and its architecture, the histîry of its original owner, Aline Barnsdall, as well as tîuring and public speaking techniques. Trained docånts will then provide guided tours to some of the 12,000 annual visitors to this historic site. The Spring 2007 Docent Training Program will be held on five consecutive Sàturday mornings beginning March 3, 2007. The datås of the training sessions are March 3, March 10, Màrch 17, March 24, and March 31, 2007 and will take place from 10 am to 1 pm at Hollyhock Houså and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, both located in Bàrnsdall Park, 4800 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, 90027. Trained docents will need to be available a minimum of once a mînth, four hours a day, to give public tours. Tîurs are offered to the public Wednesday through Sundày, 12:30 to 4:30 pm. A 12-month commitment is required. Appliñations are currently being accepted. The deadline for the Spring 2007 Docent Training Program is Friday, Fåbruary 23, 2007. Interviews are required and there will be a $40 matårials fee due by the first class, March 3rd. Barnsdall Park is a fàcility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
